INSIGHTS / HIRING

Hire the role, not the title.

A team gathered around a whiteboard, mapping the phases of a project together.

Most remote hiring goes wrong before the search even starts. The brief says “virtual assistant,” but the business actually needs a bookkeeper, scheduler or operations coordinator - a specific role with clear outcomes.

Hire against a vague title, and you get a vague result. The person may be capable, but without clear responsibilities, the work drifts and the relationship stalls.

Start with the work. Define the recurring responsibilities, systems, hours and expected 90-day outcomes. That document is worth more than any job title.

At MoreCo, defining the role is the first step of every engagement, because a clearer role leads to a better match, and a better match leads to better outcomes.
